Update for Sport Club Leaders in St Neots

Update for Sport Club Leaders in St Neots

Dear Sports Collective Members,

I am writing regarding an update on our relationship with Urban and Civic (U&C) on the Wintringham project. We spoke to U&C representatives about the current work, and they informed us they haven’t made physical progress due to delays in the wider project.

When asked what we can do to help them with the project, they informed us that they don’t require any funding but would like to keep up communication to stay close to progress, especially as decisions come up that need the collective voices heard. They have encouraged us to contact Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC), of which we are already in touch with to review the current sporting surveys that they are basing sporting needs. If HDC wishes for help or doesn’t have time or funding to re-do the surveys, St Neots Initiative will be helping conduct them to produce an accurate picture of the challenges and needs of the sports community in the town.

The surveys will include details regarding what sports facilities need to be built, and what is required to get the facilities we have in the town up to a standard that meets the ambition of the Sports Collective.

The important thing to remember is that decisions have not been made and won’t be until these engagements are completed. We will be doing all we can to make sure as many of the voices of sport leaders in the town are heard through the first half of the new year.

In addition to this meeting, the sports collective is proposing a meeting to be held in the Citizen Hub in early 2025, 12th February to discuss the next steps for the collective. This will include topics such as volunteer roles your club may require, the sports directory, and what you are expecting from the sports collective in 2025.
