01 Jun Citizen Hub – Green Skills Technician (Maintenance & Upcycling)
Purpose of the Role:
To support the Hub’s commitment to sustainability and creativity by maintaining the Hub space and upcycling donated items or materials. This role helps keep the space vibrant, reduces waste, and demonstrates practical green skills to the community.
Key Tasks:

Upcycling: Repairing, repurposing and creatively upcycling donated furniture, decor, and materials for use in the Hub or at events

Maintenance: Helping with light DIY and maintenance tasks to keep the Hub space in great shape

Green Skills Ambassador: Demonstrating green skills in practice—helping other volunteers or Hub users learn simple upcycling or repair techniques

Sustainability Projects: Supporting projects such as community workshops on repair/upcycling or helping to run green-focused events

Collaboration: Working with the Citizen Hub team and other volunteers to create an inspiring, sustainable community space
Skills & Qualities:

Hands-on and practical, enjoys making and fixing things

Interest in sustainability, circular economy, and/or green skills
-
Creative thinker with an eye for giving old things new life
-
Willing to share skills with others and encourage a ‘repair not replace’ culture
-
Basic DIY or crafting skills (training and support can be provided where needed)
Time Commitment:
Flexible — ideally a few hours a week or project-based involvement, depending on availability and the Hub’s needs.
